Growing up...

You always hear parents say, "Enjoy every moment, they grow up too fast." Well, I've never quite experienced that until tonight. In the first year an infant passes through more milestones then they will for the rest of their life. It's exciting. They are constantly changing. For the last four months I've always found myself excited and anxious for the next milestone, what he'll do next, smile, laugh, reach, sit, eat solids, and so on. But tonight, as I held Samuel in my arms as he fell asleep, I felt for the first time, don't grow up too fast. I wished for that moment to last forever; for his whole body to be wrapped around mine, with both of my arms securing him against me. The words of 'I Am A Child of God' and 'Teach Me to Walk in the Light' came into my mind. I thought maybe if I held him forever and never put him down he wouldn't be able to grow past the depths and strength and love of my arms that encompassed him at that very moment. I thank my Eternal God and Father for the gift Samuel is in our lives. I now know I will NEVER be able to comprehend the love our Father in Heaven has for each of us.

Stick That Tounge Out!

So, today when Samuel first woke up he was in such a great mood (after he ate of course). I got a picture of him on my cell phone sticking his tongue out the most he has ever done. It was so cute. So in this video we were trying to get him to do it again. Luckily we got it right before the memory card filled up.

Wake Up Call...or maybe not!

So when I was a kid I could sleep like a rock. Since I got married, not so much. However, my sisters still believe that I can. Well, Joey has me beat! This morning I ran the water to take a bath, then I scrambled some eggs and the smoke detector went off because of the stuff under the burner, then Samuel woke up screaming, and the baby monitor is in the bedroom. But NO, non of that woke up Joey. Or maybe he heard it and just ignored it! Hmm? The only thing left that did not go off was the dogs, and that's because they were laying in the bed with him!!!! What? They think they can jump in the bed, once I get up? I don't think so! Those naughty boys!

Baby Coos...

So a friend told me I should write this down...You know how a baby's first noises besides crying are called coos? Well, Samuel's are a little different. I call his caws. He sounds more like a crow, 'caw caw' or like a rapter from Jurassic Park, 'arrr, arrr'. It's not as funny in writing as it is orally, but it's still worth jotting down. He's a cutie!

Georgia!

Samuel went on his first road trip to Georgia. We drove 2 1/2 hours to Live Oak, FL to meet up with my mom and Del and hitched a ride with them the rest of the way. Samuel slept the whole time in the car and woke up to eat every time we stopped. It couldn't have been more perfect! He had lots of fun visiting with his aunts, uncles, and cousins. We can't wait till we can see them again!

Catch Up!

Well, I wanted to catch up writing and posting pictures of Samuel in order, but too much is happening to wait till I get to it. But now, Samuel is 11 weeks old and has started sleeping through the night at 9 weeks old. It has been great! I still have to get up early to pump, but it works for me! He is growing so big so fast!

Hospital Stay

The hospital stay was nice. All the nurses were great. My favorite was Emily my labor nurse. It was also really nice to see Jan, our birthing class instructor, even though she was never one of my nurses. The last night when they had to change me to nesting, that crew wasn't as friendly, but for the most part everyone was great. Here are some pictures from the hospital.

Labor and Delivery!

April 30th, Friday morning at 10:30am I had my Dr. appointment and was 70% effaced but not dialated at all. When we arrived at the hospital at 7pm the same day I was 4cm. An hour later I was already at 6cm. I think that is when I got the epidural. Around that time is a bit of a blur to me. After the epidural, even though the guy wasn't very nice, it immediately starting working and it was nice! Everything was relaxed. It was only me, Joey, Emily the labor nurse, and Missy my midwife in the room. I remember we were watching Pirates of the Carribean when I was at 9 1/2cm. But then I started feeling some major pressure! I didn't know this at the time, but I only pushed for a half hour. There was one push that made me think I couldn't do anymore! I thought, 'I can't do another one like that again!' But then everyone starting yelling at me to sit up. I was so confused. Then Missy told ME to pull him out! I sat up, saw his head completely out, grabbed him, he was slipping all over the place and I flopped back down! It truly is a miracle that this little human baby came out of me! The whole process of the creation of man that God designed is just breathtaking!

Water Breaking...

My due date was May 8, 2010. My last final exam for the spring semester was April 30th. I tried so hard to stay ahead and completed my classes by Thursday May 29th. I thought to myself, 'whew, I have one week to get everything in order before the baby comes.' Well, Friday, the 30th I went to my friend Mindy's house at 4:00pm. We were cutting out laminated lizards for her homeschool stuff. I noticed frequent cramps while I was there but didn't think anything of it. An hour and a half later when her husband was home I was telling him a story about my husband, but I couldn't concentrate because my cramps were getting worse and I continously had to pee. I lost total concentration on my story and got up to pee and my water broke, just a leak, but then another leak and another and another. Instead of going to a missionary farewell in our ward, I realized I needed to go home and call my midwife. So I called Joey on the way and told him my water broke. He said, "Now remember what Jan said (our birthing class instructor), you can drive to Georgia and back before you have to go to the hospital." When I called Missy Rogero, my midwife, she said to come to the hosptial to be checked just in case, but bring my back, also, just in case. So, Joey came home and we got to the hospital by 7:00pm.

My First Post!

Well, here goes nothing! My first post! I thank my son Samuel for the inspiration to start this blog. I love journal writing, but without the writing. It takes a lot of time. Every time I go back to read what I've written, my spelling and grammer never makes any sense. It's funny how you don't notice it when you are writting it. So, this is my attempt to be more diligent with journal writing since typing I enjoy much more. With Samuel in my life, I want to remember the small things that bring happiness into our lives each day, and keep record of the important events I've always been meaning to write down for keepsake. So, this is it...
